Gunung Meja Nature Park
A Natural and Historical Treasure in Manokwari

Gunung Meja Nature Park spans 462.17 hectares and is located in Manokwari District, West Papua Province. Managed by Seki Conservation Area III Bintuni Bay, this park is not only a vital ecological zone but also an important historical and recreational site.

Climate and Landscape
The park experiences a wet tropical rainforest climate, with elevations ranging from 16 to 210 meters above sea level. The terrain varies from flat and gently sloping in the east to rugged and hilly in the west, with Bonay Peak (210m above sea level) as its highest point.
A unique feature of the park is its 30 natural springs, which originate from caves and underground reservoirs, contributing to the region’s lush ecosystem.

Geology and Vegetation
Geologically, Table Mountain belongs to the Manokwari Formation, characterized by limestone reefs, biomicrite, cassidurite, and calcarenite, rich in algae and fossilized marine life.
The park is home to a diverse range of lowland tropical forest trees, including:
Pometia coreacea, Pimelodendron amboinicum, Pometia pinnata
Palaquium amboinense, Intsia bijuga (Merbau wood), Koordersiodendron pinnatum, Antiaris toxicaria, Pterygota horsfieldii, Sterculia parkinsonii, Spathiostemon javensis.

Wildlife and Biodiversity
Gunung Meja Nature Park is a sanctuary for various wildlife species, including mammals, birds, reptiles, and amphibians. The park has recorded:
15 mammal species from 6 families, 35 bird species from 20 families, 20 species of herpetofauna, including: 7 lizard species, 3 amphibian species 9 snake species, 1 turtle species

Accessibility and Travel Routes
The park is conveniently located 3 km north of Manokwari City center and can be easily accessed by motorcycles, cars, and other four-wheeled vehicles. A 7-km paved road runs through the park, connecting various access points:
West Entrance: Near UNIPA Student Dormitory
Southeast-East Entrance: Sarinah Complex, Manokwari Timur Village
Northern Route: Anggrem Ring Road – White Sands – Amban (24 km away)
